Chiragi Solanki

I am from India after getting married and initially helped in the family business. I felt I wanted to do better with my life so I applied for the course at the Nari Ekta. I was able to get a place and gained all 15 qualifications that were offered with distinctions in most IT exams and Grade C in GCSE English. I will like to say thanks to Harinder, Deepa, Jaspal and all classmates for giving me such an opportunity and helping me to make my dreams come true.

Chiragi is working at the Dept of Housing & Environment, Leeds City Council as an Information Assistant and did Adult Teacher Training course at Leeds College of Technology


This course is an opportunity for Asian women to polish their abilities and to make themselves confident and brave. I have achieved 14 qualifications in just one year. Thanks to Nari Ekta, ESF and Leeds City Council for everything, I would like to thank all the teachers for their help and support.

Farzana is training as a Funding Assistant(with PATH) and studying at Leeds Metropolitan University.

Jaspal Toor

Nari Ekta made me a totally different person in just one year, as I achieved 11 qualifications. More importantly I acquired  confidence in myself and the ability to stand up for myself. It has brightened my children’s and my future. Nari Ekta has a unique standing as an organisation. It changes so many women’s lives in a positive way.

Jaspal is working as an Outreach Worker at Nari Ekta, has finished further study in GCSE Maths(Grade A), ECDL, TP & WP3 , Teacher Training & NVQ 3 Administration

Deepa Parmar

Before I joined my training programme at Nari Ekta, I was short on self-confidence and had to miss out an opportunities due to childcare problems. Nari Ekta solved those for me and gave me much more; I have come a long way since. Although a little nervous initially, I feel I can venture up to any challanges life may through at me. I am extremely proud of my achievements at Nari Ekta.

Deepa is now working at Armley Prison as Administration Officer and studying NVQ 3 in Administration.

Rajvinder Rathore

My first thoughts were who would look after my daughter Tiraj who was 1 year old.The staff told me that Nari Ekta provides free child care facilities. I enjoyed the course and achieved 11 qualifications in one year. I also did my work experience at ASDA House and was offered a job with them.

Rajvinder is working at her previous work placement at ASDA House in their Finance Department.

Masrat Ali

I stayed at home after I finished school. It was not possible for me to get a job because I did not have any qualifications. I thought it was too late for me to study and gain qualifications, but a friend introduced me to Nari Ekta which made it possible for me to gain 10 qualifications in one year and a good job at the end.

Masrat is working with Education Leeds in Merrion House as clerical assistant.

Jaswinder

Jaswinder Kang

I found the course very good because Nari Ekta also provide language support for Asian women. Work placement was part of the course and that gave me the opportunity to expand my knowledge further.

Jaswinder is working as Administrative Assistant at Stonham Housing Association and is working towards her NVQ level 3 in Administration. Jaswinder was winner of Best Achievement Award from Leeds College of Technology.


The course was very useful. I gained a great deal of confidence to go out and face the world. I achieved twelve recognised qualifications in one year. I would like to thank the European Social Fund & Leeds City Council for funding Nari Ekta and giving Asian Women like myself an opportunity to gain employment and excellent results, which I never thought was possible.
